Merriman Media, a company founded by financial planner Paul Merriman, has acquired Irish full-service digital marketing agency Leading Social.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, sees Merriman Media investing €500,000 in the company over the next three years. The investment will support the company’s growth and will result in the hiring of up to 15 additional employees over the next two years.
Founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Jamie White, Leading Social focuses on helping businesses grow online through both organic and paid strategies and through online advertising with bespoke content creation teams.
Based in Dublin, the company has worked with many clients in the energy, healthcare, hospitality and education sectors and specializes in SMEs.
Leighton Penrose, Managing Director of Leading Social, said he’s excited about the opportunities the new deal brings and looks forward to hiring and working with more digital graduates.
“Our company has had great success in delivering results to clients in its early years and with the support of Merriman Media we can really improve what we offer and show our differences. Central to this plan is our recruiting strategy.”
Merriman runs Pax Financial and is the face of financial advisory service Ask Paul. Based on his experience finding an agency, he felt the deal was the right time to enter the world of digital marketing.
When he founded Ask Paul, Merriman said he “fought to find the right agency” and ran many campaigns in-house.
Enterprise Ireland cancels Agritech event in Russia
Enterprise Ireland has canceled an event scheduled for next week to promote trade opportunities for agritech companies in countries like Russia.
Earlier last week, Ergo discovered that the September 1 seminar was still on EI’s calendar of events designed to promote Central Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States countries for agritech companies.
Enterprise Ireland told Ergo that this was a pre-Russian invasion of Ukraine event and subsequently removed it from its calendar. It confirmed that the state agency had suspended all promotional activities in Russia and remains so.
